Senator Roberts has described the intimidation of the Jewish community by the left wing, including the Glen Eira council, as a tragic part of Australia’s history.

Senator Roberts said: “Instead of condemning the extreme left wing protestors political leaders have instead condemned the Jewish community in daring to hear different political perspectives,”

On Senator Malcolm Roberts' Facebook: Tonight I am at the Chanukah Festival of Freedom in Parliament House with Yael, the President of the ACT Jewish Community and VP of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and my wife Christine.

“The Jewish community have been intimidated by the horrid and vicious left wing, chased from their communities, and forced to hide by these vile extremists,” Senator Roberts added.

Senator Roberts called on all political leaders to condemn the extreme left wing for their violent attacks on free speech and the right to gather peacefully.

Senator Hanson wished to express that her high level of concern for the Jewish Community’s safety as the primary reason for the cancellation of the event.

“We will review security arrangements and make another time to ensure the Melbourne Jewish community have their voice heard,”

“We have been advised by security agencies that the community was not guaranteed their safety in attending this particular event,” Senator Hanson said.

Senators Hanson and Roberts thanked the members of the Independent Jewish Council, including Avi Yemini, for organising the event.

Avi Yemini who had organised the meeting for the fledgling Independent Jewish Council of Australia told J-Wire: “I am ashamed to be a Victorian. This is a win for people who are against democracy.”

I echo the words of Mr. Polonsky. Those who try to silence reasoned expressions of views different from their own usually do so either from intolerance or of a sense of insecurity while masquerading as protectors of society.

  2. Ron Burdo says:

Typical leftie hypocrisy. They support free speech… as long as it aligns with their view. In Australia as well as in Israel.

  3. Steve Blake says:

Our wonderful nation is being manipulated by leftist propaganda. The ABC is the chosen weapon. The ALP and the Greens are the perpetrators. As a sixth generation Australian, I am disgusted that the people who stand for right values and safety for our nation and our citizens are hated and targeted by vicious and extremist leftist minorities. The media are causing total polarisation and hatred, just as they have done in the USA with the absolutely biased and manipulative coverage of the recent election. Though I do not subscribe to everything of the Hanson view point, I respect her more than ever for having the courage to stand up to a hateful, blasphemous, manipulative and corrupted media. The Jewish people are to be loved, honoured and treasured. It is a fact that the Islamists hate Israel. They bring this hatred to our beautiful nation. They should integrate or leave. Simple as that. It would be good if they took their ABC, ALP and Green buddies with them.

Steve, you had me going there for a while, being satirical about these silly, paranoid conspiracy theories, but it seems you actually meant it. You poor sad thing

  4. Henry Herzog says:

No Mr Yemini, it’s a win for stamping our racism.

  5. Adrian Jackson says:

    What a laugh all round.

  6. Mark Polonsky says:

Please be assured Senators Hanson and Roberts that not all Jewish people are so opposed to free speech, and can be intimidated into silence by hard-left bullies. I may not agree with much of your political views but you have been elected to one of the world’s most robust, democratic parliamentary systems, and so deserve to be heard peacefully in any public forum. It’s such a pity that people who want to hear what you have to say, are now just going to hear from the haters, about what you may or may not have actually said, regarding current issues facing Australia today.
Ours is a diverse community. Shame on those who abuse their power and privilege in a bid to reduce us all to totalitarian robots.
