Beans’ book ‘GALLIPOLI MISSION’ mentions GENERAL MONASH – only once. GENERAL MONASH wrote – AUSTRALIAN VICTORIES in FRANCE in 1918.and gave most of the credit to the DIGGERS –

When General MONASH died, his State Funeral was attended by 300,000 of the DIGGERS and Widows – had who fought the ‘WAR to End all WARS’

I doubt if anyone past or present – would draw such a crowd these days.

The fact that he was without doubt – the best General and had a better TRACK RECORD than any of the other GENERALS of the BRITISH ARMY – all of whom Promoted to Field Marshal – after the Conclusion of the GREAT WAR by KING GEORGE V

(who changed his surname 1stJuly 1917, from SACHS – COBURG – GOTHA on to WINDSOR – because his GERMAN NAME was too hard for his British Soldiers to pronounce)

The rest of these Generals of the BRITISH ARMY who were promoted to Field Marshal, killed more BRITISH SOLDIERS by their MILITARY MISTAKES than GERMANY did in the years 1914 – 1918.
