A Palestinian Authority newspaper printed a cartoon portraying wounded Temple Mount activist Rabbi Yehudah Glick as a snake, Palestinian Media Watch reported Thursday.

Glick, a promoter of Jewish access to the holy site, was shot and seriously wounded on Oct. 29 by an Arab gunman riding a motorcycle outside of a Jerusalem conference. He remains hospitalized, though his condition is improving.

On Thursday, the bi-weekly Capital City newspaper, which is distributed with the official Palestinian Authority daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, printed the cartoon showing terrorist Mutaz Hijazi, who shot Glick, attempting to strangle Glick while saying “You make me mad!”

The “general supervisor” of the Capital City is Othman Abu Gharbieh, who is a member of Fatah’s Central Committee and the secretary general of the Popular National Conference of Jerusalem, a PLO-connected institution that publishes the bi-weekly newspaper. Capital City frequently honors terrorists, according to Palestinian Media Watch. In the same issue of the newspaper that included the Glick cartoon, the headline “Jerusalem will speak only Arabic” accompanies photos of the terrorists Hijazi and Ibrahim Al-Akari, who has killed two Israelis and injured more than 13 in Jerusalem terrorism.

Cartoonists often picture a human as a part animal. In Australia the late Kerry Packer was the Goanna

The Financial Review today (15-16 Nov 14) has a cartoon with a big maggot or slum that has a Clive Palmer head but with a Jackie Lambie head appearing at the other end. Funny cartoon.

Did the cartoons of Packer and Palmer identify their religious beliefs?

Wonder why the cartoon showed the terrorist only strangling the Jew (who incidentally is not identified in the cartoon as Rabbi Glick) – not shooting him at point blank range.

It is this kind of incitement to Jew- hatred and vilification that makes any reconciliation between Jews and Arabs very difficult to achieve.

The Arabs could have had in 1947 and between 1948-1967 all they say they now want in 2014 – and lots more.

Those opportunities are not going to return again.

“You make me mad” may be one response. A better one would be to negotiate with Israel on a realistic basis which sees the Arabs paying some price for their stupidity and foolishness more than fifty years ago.

I still clearly remember the Kristallnacht in Vienna
I also clearly remember cartoons in ” Der Stuermer ” Nazi newspaper depicting very semitic looking jews as apes and dragons .
There is a vast difference in sentiment between depicting Kerry Packer as a goanna and an almost mortally wounded Rabbi as a snake.

Looks as though Gharbieh has abandoned his moderate views as reportedly expressed in February 2013 and now chosen the extremist path of incitement to Jew hatred and delegitimisation of the Jewish State:

“Abu Gharbieh also took time to talk about the Palestinian reconciliation and the need to recover the “people’s spirit,” as he described it, through national Palestinian elections in Gaza and the West Bank. Abu Gharbieh also pointed that a Palestinian reconciliation must not be built on political quotas and should represent a clear image of a Palestinian international political agenda, avoiding the Palestinians an economic crisis. – See more at: http://blog.onevoicemovement.org/one_voice/2013/02/portraits-of-palestine-connecting-ordinary-citizens-with-decision-makers-in-jenin.html#sthash.rlcfVCoy.dpuf

Gharbieh was on the right track in February 2013. He is sadly out of step in November 2014.

Just another indication that the “two-state solution” is well and truly buried.
