Bialik Year 12 Student, David Zwier, has taken first prize at the Boroondara Annual Youth Film Festival with his short film “Crossing Paths”.

David was one of 15 finalists in a tough competition, judged by two Australian film industry professionals and two members of Boroondara’s Youth Council at the Palace Cinema in Balwyn on Tuesday 12 November. David’s uncanny seven minute film “Crossing Paths” is a stylish tragicomic Mobius loop, starting and ending at the same moment.  The film’s script, camera work, acting and editing bear the maturity and professionalism of a film-maker much older than eighteen. David’s film will now be featured by the council at the opening of the new Hawthorn Town hall complex and a local café, among other opportunities. Bialik College’s Media department has a proud tradition of excellence and has seen many of its graduates go on to careers in marketing and media production.  Media Department Head Brendan Cohen says: Bialik students can elect Media subject from Year 8 right through to Years 11 and 12.

This is why we see such expertise and maturity in our senior photography, film and animation.
