European Jewish Congress (EJC) President Dr. Moshe Kantor has condemned as unacceptable the unbearable escalation against the European Jewish community after an explosion rocked Malmo’s Jewish community building this morning.
“The explosion of Malmo follows an unprecedented wave of attacks against Jews and Jewish targets in recent months, since the murders in Toulouse,” Kantor said. “The Jewish community in Europe is under attack, there is a real threat to Jewish communal life in parts of Europe and not enough is being done to protect it. A threat to Jewish life in Europe is a threat to the foundations of Europe.”
“While leaders are trying to ascertain the barriers of freedom of expression after the anti-Islam film, Jews are in grave danger, and this is not receiving the same level of attention. While discussing different rights it should be remembered that the right to life is above all and there are those who wish to rob the Jews of even this right in Europe.”
Recent attacks against Jews in Europe have included an attack on Jewish schoolchildren in Paris, a man and his six year old daughter in Berlin and a rabbi in Vienna.
“The authorities need to take urgent action on a national and pan-European basis,” Kantor said. “However, before there is a way, there must be a will, and the Mayor of Malmo has created an atmosphere where Jews feel threatened without sufficient protection or understanding.”
Malmo Mayor Ilmar Reepalu has a history of comments which have been perceived as excusing and legitimizing waves of antisemitic attacks against Jews.
“We call on the local authorities to take all measures possible to protect the Jewish community in Malmo and our institutions,” said Lena Posner, President of the Jewish Community in Sweden, “There must be a zero tolerance against acts of hate and antisemitism in the city.”
The EJC is currently meeting with leaders at the national and European level, to ensure the allocation of resources and to prioritize this issue, in levels of prevention, enforcement and reaction to these crimes.

    Sweden have form, they were the suppliers of Steel to the Nazi war machine, don’t think they would be too perturbed at their expanding Muslim communities special interest in Jews.

    The Malmo bombing has not been covered by the media here in the States. I knew of it from my on line news.

    • Shirlee says:

      That’s often the case Ethan. Though it wasn’t reported here in the MSM, only Jewish publications. You may well find it the same there.

      • EthanP says:

        There are several conservative news sites that I get that are very Israel/Jewish friendly that covered it. For conservative Jewish sites, try Atlas Shrugged, Israel Times, Front Page. The non Jewish sites are the Blaze, Brietbart, and National Review.

    Yes Raul , you will hear our community leaders tell us how important Multiculturalism is. We will be told how these attacks on Jews are only a minority . When we question Multiculturalism and or criticize the fact that we Jews are the only religious minority that are forced to hire security at our Synagogues, day schools , community centers and for visiting Jewish Israeli’s because of this so called minority we will be called racists
    .

  4. Raoul says:

    This is a highly imbalanced article. Where are Messrs Loewenstein, Stillman & Co. speaking out in defence of the misunderstood, misquoted, misrepresented and eternally peaceful religion of peace and harmony? Where are the advocates for the masses of small minorities of misunderstanders of Islam?

  5. Michael says:

    Multiculturalism

  6. Yosi says:

    Time to leave.Let the Swedes enjoy whats left of Melmo on their own.

  7. Shirlee says:

    What on earth is the matter with the Jewish Community in Malmö, Sweden’s third largest city, where the Muslim population is 39% of the population and growing? This was bound to happen. For years now Jews haven’t been able to show signs of their Jewishness for fear of being attacked by Muslims and there have been many .

    A Fox documentary back in 2008 showed what was happening then. Since that time there have been constant reports of antisemitic attacks.

    This is from a 2010 report. “In 2009, a chapel serving the city’s 700-strong Jewish community was set ablaze. Jewish cemeteries were repeatedly desecrated, worshippers were abused on their way home from prayer.”

    From a Holocaust survivor in that same report “I never thought I would see this hatred again in my lifetime, not in Sweden anyway,”

    In 2009 there were 79 antisemitic attacks on 700 Jews in Malmö.

    Large areas of the city, similar to those in Western Europe and the UK, are labelled ‘no-go zones.’ They are unsafe for non-Muslims, particularly women who don’t conform to Islamist conventions of dress and social interaction. They are danger zones for police, firemen, and paramedics, who refuse to enter these areas without protection and back up, for their own safety.

    Soeren Kern of the Madrid-based Strategic Studies Group says, “Fire and emergency workers . . . refuse to enter Malmö’s mostly Muslim Rosengaard district without police escorts. And sensibly so: When firefighters attempted to extinguish a blaze at the city’s main mosque, local Muslims pelted them with stones.”

    Resident of Dresden, Germany, 1942, following the bombing of a local Synagogue :”When synagongues are bombed you know that soon, churches will be bombed”.
    They killed and expelled their Jews;
    They welcomed the muslim Arabs;
    Gezundheit.
