In reply to George Fink. Genuine refugees certainly. Economic refugees have to wait in line and go through valid channels. As more than 90% of the boat people are economic refugees you are not comparing apples with apples when you compare them to the Jewish refos who came to work and sustain themselves after the Holocaust. Furthermore 80% of the boat people are still on benefits 10 years after arriving in Australia. The boat people in Manus and Nauru are not mistreated but exist in better conditions than in their own countries. They always have the option to return to their countries, the trip back fuuly paid by the taxpayer.

But, alas, no hint of improving the plight of the refugees on Manus and Nauru….Most Jews, and many in the Melbourne Ports electorate were once impoverished and imprisoned “refos”! How can Jews, and their leaders be so utterly callous and ignore the plight of the refugees? Australia’s horrendous maltreatment of refugees is a blot on our nation….second only to our terrible genocide, occupation and suppression of our Indigenous Peoples.

Do unto others that which you would have them do unto you.

I/we would be so proud if Mr Danby led a positive change to our maltreatment of the refugees on Manus and Nauru. I have oft written to Danby along these line, but no response
