Stav is a very, very minor Talmid Chacham (and serious Yeshiva bachur of 20, knows more Torah than him and his Yirat Shanmayim could do with much improvement.

I suppose the fact that Leibler approves of him, should be enough yo inform us of all that…

As a Jew in the Diaspora who has also lived in Israel, I have become increasingly alarmed at the polarising situation occurring in Israel between the secular and the religious. If continuing, it may one day become Israel’s Achilles Heel due to the lack of unity among Israelis as sensible Democratic living and tolerance diminishes. The appointment of Rabbi David Stav to the position of Chief Rabbi would make a highly significant change, enabling hope for a turn-around of the present destructive slide toward religious fundamentalism. Shame on Netanyahu if he attempts to influence this for his own political purposes.
