The June 22-23 National Conference on Palestine at the Auckland Town Hall will include speakers, panel discussions as well as a screening of the award-winning film “Five Broken Cameras”.

Speakers are expected to include Israeli author Miko Peled, who wrote “The General’s Son,” and Gaza activist Yousef Aljamal.

Conference organisers say it aims to bring together “human rights activists, faith groups, trade unions, community groups and political parties to raise awareness, and form a strong and active solidarity network in support of the Palestinian struggle”.

The conference is being organised by a coalition of groups including Kia Ora Gaza, Global Peace and Justice Auckland, Palestine Human Rights Campaign, Students for Justice in Palestine and the Wellington Palestine Group.

Why is Limmud Oz hosting a big BDS pusher???

    • Otto Waldmann says:

      Peter
I checked the list of this year’s Limud Oz presenters and , just as well, Peled is not on at all.
Do yoy know something we don’t !

  2. Georg says:

Miko Peled is a traitor and Fifth Columnist to Israel. The Iaraeli Government should bar his entry back to Israel for his inflamatory remarks against the country that gives him his freedom.

    • robert says:

His Youtube presentation is a litany of distortions and outright lies.
He is lucky he lives in a democracy.

  3. ben eleijah says:

If the Zionist lobby has a principled position, it should have an open honest debate with the BDS campaigners and disprove their arguments, instead of the debased slander of anti-Semitism, smear and intimidation.

    • Otto Waldmann says:

here we are telling all and sundry what a moronic initiative this BDS is and ben has just confirmed that all those behind the BDS are indeed as described…………….

    • robert says:

      Debate this !
Finklestein knows you lot inside out.
” I’ve earned my right to speak my mind, and I’m not going to tolerate what I think is silliness, childishness, and a lot of leftist posturing.

I mean we have to be honest, and I loathe the disingenuous. They don’t want Israel. They think they are being very clever; they call it their three-tier. We want the end of the occupation, the right of return, and we want equal rights for Arabs in Israel. And they think they are very clever because they know the result of implementing all three is what, what is the result?

You know and I know what the result is. There’s no Israel!

      . . .

It’s not an accidental and unwitting omission that BDS does not mention Israel. You know that and I know that. It’s not like they’re “oh we forgot to mention it.” They won’t mention it because they know it will split the movement. ‘Cause there’s a large segment of the movement that wants to eliminate Israel.

      . . .

Are you going to reach a broad public which is going to hear the Israeli side ‘they want to destroy us?’ No you’re not. And frankly you know what you shouldn’t. You shouldn’t reach a broad public because you’re dishonest. And I wouldn’t trust those people if I had to live in this state. I wouldn’t. It’s dishonesty. “

  4. Otto Waldmann says:

With his dashing looks, our Miko reminds me of the tale that at Haifa port during the big allyas they say that there was a big sign warning the newcomers ” In Israel we can be good looking but not smart !!”.
This bloke is a real oberchuchem by half and , to prove it, he has chosen the best of companies. I just love the notion of “human” rights and Palestinians. Yep, human alright, just check their toddlers all dressed up as soldiers parading with kalashnikovs, no doubt in between their piano lessons, language and maths classes all inspired by their highly sophisticated families.
All these morons can fathom is organising hate fests, demos, pamphlets full of lies and venom and they know that anywhere they go where a Western type society functions, the presence of relics of anti Semitism would be the best, most fertile ground for spreading their ideological cancer. “Friends of Palestine”, who on earth wants to be friends with purveyors of terror , prejudice, lies and hatred ! Go figure.
Miko, mate, your family must be proud of you, not to mention the families of your mates killed by the same palestinian human rights activists blowing up buses in the middle of Tel Aviv. Jerusalem, Asdod etc.
