B’nai B’rith say French move may inhibit peace talks
France’s announcement that it will recognise a “Palestinian State” if there is no progress soon in peace talks for a two-state solution prejudges the issue and will more than likely inhibit the pace of talks, rather than facilitate peace negotiations say Australia’s Anti-Defamation Commission and B’nai B’rith International.
ADC Chairman Dr Dvir Abramovich, and Dan Mariaschin, Executive Vice President of B’nai B’rith International say that “this will serve as a disincentive to negotiations”.
In a joint statement the two organisations maintain: “The Palestinian Authority (PA) has dragged its feet for years on returning to the negotiating table. Learning that France will recognize a state if talks don’t move forward is hardly an incentive for PA leaders to sit down with Israel to engage in direct talks. Why would the PA talk when it knows already that it has French recognition? It suggests a baffling example of “backwards diplomacy.
Such a unilateral recognition ignores Israel’s vital, rightful and what should be a mandatory role in peace negotiations aimed at a two-state solution. We have long advocated bilateral peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians. France’s suggestion that it will recognize a “State of Palestine” is more than unhelpful.
Instead, France should urge the PA to return to the table without preconditions. The Palestinians have repeatedly rejected talks. The PA has instead chosen to circumvent Israel, going to the United Nations and various world leaders rather than make hard decisions in bi-lateral talks. Such internationalization of the conflict with the Jewish State allows the PA to avoid talks aimed at compromise.
As a staunch advocate for Israel, we will work to ensure that Israel’s security is fairly considered.”
Despite the fact that France has had numerous terrorist attacks committed on
its soil, despite the murder of Jews in Kosher restaurants, despite the fact that Mister Hollande proposes that France is at war( could it be with Islamist murderers )? despite the fact that a high French Government official trumpets ” without the Jews France is not France” and urges Jews to remain in France where they will be safe-. We now have the situation where France will recognise a Palestinian State unilaterally , if much more times passes, without having reached a rapport with Israel
In the meantime schoolbooks are printed and distributed to pupils from the youngest to the more mature ones , depicting most vile propaganda , illustrating Jews, cartoon-like, as savage ,blood-stained killers ( a la
cartoons in the” Stuermer “newspapers the Nazis published.Giving very small schoolchildren toy AK47s replicas and teaching them how to kill the evil Jews. Naming schools after a woman who has killed 38 Jewish people,
after constant incitement for Palestinians living in Israel to ram cars,
stick knives into innocent Israelis with the lie that Israel wants to
desecrate the Temple mount.
This list can go on forever but the world media and obviously the French Government does not see ,or does not want to see that. After having had a few grave terrorist incidents occurring on French soil let them go and live in Israel not for a few days but for a few months and see and feel the terror. But I am afraid that even this won’t change the rusted on anti-Israel attitude.
Not only the French but, closer to home, certain elements in the Australian Labor Party should come along for the ride from their comfortable seats
