Kristina Vesk, CEO of the Cat Protection Society NSW inc, told J-Wire: “The blessing service today was lovely and very well received. Our adoption centre room was crowded with people and cats as we welcomed the Rabbi and our guests. It was a beautiful service and a most moving prayer.”

Rabbi Mendel Kastel is the CEO of SYdney’s Jewish House. This is the prayer he recited for the cats…

Lord of the universe who has created all living things and all matter of the world.
We pray to you on this world cat day to bring good health, success, happiness to the Cat Protection Society and all its wonderful staff.
Please bring healing to those who are not well both person and animal we also remember those who are no longer with us

Today we pray that you give strength to all the wonderful people who care for cats be it their own or help others care for them.
Please bring success to this wonderful organisation which provides respect and dignity to one of your creatures…an organisation which supports their carers and is a voice for the animals who have no voice.
Please bless the board and staff and volunteers who dedicate their time with much joy and success in all aspects of their personal and community life.
Let us say amen
