Following the success of previous Tamarama beach Shabbat experiences, Our Big Kitchen will again host this year’s biggest Shabbat dinner under the stars.

Shabbat on the beach

Shabbat on the beach

This very unique experience taking place on the Friday 6th of February, is designed to connect Jews who otherwise may not go to a service or have a Shabbat dinner on a Friday night and to introduce people of other faiths to the concept of Shabbat.

The Tamarama Beach Shabbat is designed to be a spiritual experience, while people sink their toes into the sand, listen to the ocean and eat dinner under a blanket of stars.

“The interest from last time we held this program was phenomenal – thankfully with the wonderful support of Waverley Council – we have been able to grow our numbers this time – everyone is welcome” Rabbi Doctor Dovid Slavin, Director of OBK told J-Wire.

‘For the first time ever, Tamarama beach will transform into a beautiful dinner setting for 100 people, complete with white table clothes, fairy lights and a full Shabbat Synagogue service’, says the Rabbi.

A synagogue service will take place before a stunning three course kosher meal, prepared by chefs from Our Big Kitchen.

According to OBK’s General Manager Greg Fisher, it’s going to be a magical night.

“We excited to be hosting yet another Shabbat under the stars. We learnt so much from last time, so this one is going to be pretty special” Mr Fisher said.

Shabbat Dinner on Tamarama Beach wish I could be there, to experience the evening, unfortunately now living in Melbourne.

Tamarama & Bronte were home beaches for me up until 1969.

Hope & pray for a successful Shabbat evening
