Australia’s latest commitment to assist in the recovery and reconstruction of Gaza will be announced at a conference to be held in Egypt on Monday, March 2.In January, Australia provided $10 million for emergency and humanitarian relief through the United Nations and NGOs. The extra funding will assist the efforts of the Palestinian Authority, the UN agencies and the World Bank to restore shelter and essential services to those displaced by the conflict.

The World Health Organisation estimates that around 100,000 people have been affected by the conflict.

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Stephen Smith, told media: “Australia has contributed $75 million to the Palestinian Territories since December, 2007. This underscores our commitment to a two-state solution to resolve the Israel-Palestininan conflict. Our assistance contributes to economic development, a vital prerequisite for building the capacity of an effective Palestinian state and ensuring the security of Israel.”

Monday’s conference, in Sharm El Sheikh will be attended by international donors focusing on the recovery of Gaza.

Yes? nobody asked me where I like my contribution to Australian taxation to go to Gaza and produce more rockets to shut at Israeli civilians.

    EXCUSE ME !!!!!!!
After forcing your way into your brother’s bedroom, you destroyed his clothes, books and computer, his bed, cut off the electricity to his room and then you went and cut off the water to his bathroom. He now can’t go to school until money is found to buy a new school uniform and school books – and you want to be rewarded!! You think only of yourself and your own interests, and friends who have tried to help you have been hurt by your selfish nature.
Grow Up and treat people as you would like to be treated yourself or you have a very dismal future.

It is all very well that Australia give the P.A. $30 million, BUT what has the Rudd Government done for Israel? To my knowledge, nothing.
