Robert Kremnizer was born in Mumbai, India whilst his parents were on route from Poland to Sydney, Australia in 1943. Educated at Cranbrook School and Sydney University Robert Kremnizer studied Arts and Law. He is a successful lawyer with a private practice, having specialised in Commercial Law and real estate, now evolved into a large private Mortgage Fund.
Robert Kremnizer is also a well known teacher and author who has published four books on Jewish philosophy. As a young boy, Robert always wanted to be a painter and studied under Justin O’Brien. He was awarded first prize in the Blue Mountains Council Art Competition for portraiture and the second prize for figure study. Rather than follow a promising career as an artist however, he followed his father’s wishes and entered the legal profession. Eight years ago after a health scare, Robert was inspired to reconnect with his art practice after a hiatus of thirty years. He trained intensively with the Julian Ashton teacher Ben Smith and has emerged realising his potential as a talented artist.
With a distinctive style and use of colour, Robert produces contemporary realistic portraits and figure paintings which are both vigorous and dynamic, using paradoxical graded colour to express three dimensional volume.
