For Desmond Tutu it wasn't just about intersectionality and minorities vs. oppressors. His antipathy and consistently vocal attacks on Jews and Israel had very much to do with 'his God' and his interpretation of the bible as well.

Tutu could hardly disguise the repugnance he felt for Jewish people, who he thought of as 'peculiar' and apart from other peoples. In many countries he would be standing before a court to be judged for the overt antisemitism he practised over a very long period of time.
It is not in bad taste to speak of this now that he has died. I hope that his life is not romanticised and made to be bigger than it was. As a human being, his big failure was to be an antisemite.

I never had much of a good view of Tutu as while he opposed the Whites in South Africa due to Apartheid he opposed them all even though many whites were also opposed to apartheid. His blind support for the ANC and opposition to other black groups including the Zulus showed a huge problem in his character. He was a man who chose who was righteous in his eyes and opposed others and refused to take council so as to be better advised.

His theology was the flawed replacement position that is completely an invention of the Catholic church as it chose to claim the "promises to the Jews" for the church; in this way the Jews were never capable of being a people acceptable to God. There in no evidence in any sacred text of the Christian Church that accepts this proposition in any form at all. The anti-Semitic attitude of the Catholic church was adopted within the Church of England and while some parts of the Church of England have distanced themselves from this position there is a significant attachment to this flawed theology. Tutu was a part of that Church of England that endorsed anti-Semitic theology.

I personally never trusted him at all
