Board of Deputies of British Jews = sycophants. What a facile display, lacking moral rigour and dignity. Let’s hope that so many British Jewish constituents decline to pay their levy, that the Board ends up representing no one but themselves and is ultimately disbanded.

Michael in all fairness, and I have been watching this unfold for the past week now, there was a huge issue about it as the Deputies from 'up north' who usually attend meetings, were unable to get there due to the bad snow conditions and so didn't vote. They would have voted no.

This item is about the British Board of Deputies and Oxfam.

Oxfam, in case you missed it, has a long reputation for its anti-Israel stance.

I have been aware of this disgrace for close to a week and yet it has only just come to light here.? I find that amazing.

Jonathan Hoffman, co-chair of the Zionist Council of GB and the deputy who spearheaded the campaign against Grow-Tatzmiach said

“This project sends entirely the wrong message. To Israel’s enemies, it says even the Board supports an organisation hostile to Israel – look how isolated Israel is. To Israel’s friends, it says the Board’s not serious about fighting deligitimisation. How can it be, when it rushes into a tie-up with one of the most hostile charities?”

He called the vote “a sad day for British Jewry” and “apologised” to residents of Southern Israel “for the fact that Deputies have endorsed as a partner an organisation that wants to put their lives in danger by completely opening the borders of Gaza.”

Hoffman expressed scepticism that Oxfam would abide by its commitments to the Board saying, “I have applied to be on the Project Oversight Committee and, given Oxfam’s record, I fully expect the Board’s ‘red lines’ to be crossed within a matter of weeks, if not days.”
