A message and a video to the world from young Israelis questioning the value of Boycotts, Divestment and Sanctions against their country….following a call to artist Macy Gray to cancel her concert in Tel Aviv next week.

Dear friends living far far away from Israel,

My friends and I created a music video to a Macy Gray song asking artists not to boycott Israel. Macy will be performing in Tel Aviv in one week and she has been ambushed by cries to boycott us. So far she hasn’t caved. Our message is stop cultural boycotts on Israel in general.

I have made this film with four friends with zero budget (I know, it shows…) because this issue is important to all of us. We have gotten very good media coverage in Israel and were even supported by the Minister of Culture!

But of course, we want to make a difference and change perceptions abroad!!! And as we found out- media coverage is all ‘who you know’.

They ‘found’ J-Wire!

Oh …. how beautfiul! But ….. I would like to have seen some footage of Jewish Arabs being happy in Israel too – shopping at Ra’anana mall perhaps, anything, that shows that EVERYONE can live in Israel in happiness and benefit from its freedom if they choose.. Maybe splice a little of this in, and it could be used to show our inclusiveness in our democracy also. Just a suggestion …..

Not a word or image on the reason for the boycott campaign. Not a word or image on confiscated Palestinian lands, demolished Palestinian homes, discriminatory policies against Palestinians and immigrant workers, harassment of Palestinians. If at least you’d showed that you cared about people other than yourselves and that shalom was not just an empty word… which in this video it is.

A good film to check out:
