The memorial service for Amit Ben Ygal will be zoomed this evening as at 6 pm AEST and not at 7 pm as previously advised.

21-yr-old Amit Ben Ygal was killed on active duty on the West Bank last Monday night. His heart-broken father has been more than a friend to Maccabi Australia since 1997 when he saved a drowning athlete at the Maccabiah bridge disaster.

Amit himself joined his father at Maccabiahs to help the juniors.

The service this evening will start with log-ons to Zoom starting at 5:55 pm. The address is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86956929745

All attendees are requested to mute their microphones.

Anthony Goldman will introduce Rabbi Levi Wolff of Sydney’s Central Synagogue who will conduct Ma’ariv followed by memorial prayers.

Tom Goldman, who was president of Maccabi Australia on that fateful day in 1997 which forged the link the Ben Ygal family with Maccabi.

The current chairman of Maccabi Australia Barry Smorgon will speak for a few minutes before Colonel [Res] Benny Ben Ari, the head of the Commando Brigade addresses the service from Israel.

Maccabi’s friend, a close friend of Tom Goldman and the father of the slain soldier Amit, Baruch Ben Ygal will address the service.

Ther service will conclude with El Male Rachamim being sung by Chazzan Dov Farkas of Melbourne’s Caulfield Synagogue.

    i want to send a letter to amit ben ygal’s family.
    do you know where they live ? i would need the adress or at least the city and district please. i live in france and was touched by the event , so I wanted to send them a letter. thanks
