The tiny town is 450kms northwest from Melbourne and 10kms from the NSW border in the high country.

David Smorgon told J-Wire: “We also met with people from St Vincent’s and went to the local school where we talked with parents and children almost all impacted by the fires

Our funds will assist them by ensuring they are fully equipped with school clothes, devices and have the ability to go on excursions sporting events etc

We received an overwhelming reaction and we all were touched and moved by their courage resilience and humility.

Our community money will be our to good use and will quickly make a difference to their lives.”

Ruth and Ian are members of the Organising Group of the Victorian Jewish Bushfire Relief Appeal.

The fund is a Victorian project and has received to date$2.6 million.

What a fantastic effort by David, Ian and Ruth. And congratulations to the Victorian Jewish community for once more showing their extremely generous spirit. All Australian Jews can take pride in our contributions to worthy causes.
