Australia’s B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC) has welcomed President Obama’s stirring speech at Congregation Adas Israel in Washington in which he warned of the alarming rise in global antisemitism and noted that, “When we allow antisemitism to take root, our souls are destroyed. It will spread.”

ADC Chairman, Dr Dvir Abramovich, issued the following statement:

Dvir Abramowich

Dvir Abramovich

“We welcome President Obama’s clear and unequivocal denunciation of antisemitism and agree with his assessment that we cannot ignore the intensification of virulent Jewish-hatred and dismiss it as a “passing fad”.

Amid a dramatic increase in violence against Jews and Jewish institutions around the world, having the President of the United States address these serious issues and rightly state that antisemitism is “a threat to broader human values to which we all must aspire”, and that “when we allow antisemitism to take root, then our souls are destroyed…” carries much moral weight and is a clarion call for all good people, countries and communities to vigorously tackle this scourge .

Indeed, it was tremendously heartening to hear President Obama declare that he is proud to be part of a group of international leaders who are committed to combatting antisemitism and all forms of bigotry.

We deeply appreciate President’s Obama forceful assurance that his administration’s commitment and his personal commitment to Israel’s security is and will always be unshakable ,and that he will stand up, not only “on behalf of Israel’s right to exist, but its right to thrive and prosper.”

We were also very pleased to hear President Obama pledge that he will not sign a bad deal with Teheran, and that Iran must not be permitted, under any circumstances, to obtain nuclear weapons.”

Looks like if the ADC Chairman was at the Adas Israel congregation in Washington, he would have been part of the enraptured majority applauding every word of Obama’s charm offensive.

Isn’t it wonderful that Abramovich applauds Obama’s assurance of “Israel’s right to EXIST”! and then goes on to say that he is pleased by Obama’s pledge that he will not sign a bad deal with Teheran.

By the way Dvir, are you not aware that the Obama administration has threatened repeatedly to throw Israel under the UN bus if necessary to get its way and of all the past concessions this President has forced out of one spineless Israeli Government after the other.

As far as the deal with Iran is concerned.
Where have you been living these past few months?
    On another planet?
The deal Obama is negotiating with Iran will ensure the Mullahs get nuclear weapons.

I could say more but am too disgusted to do so. My comments would be too politically incorrect for the Jwire editor publish.

Where were President Obama’s words of unequivocal denunciation of anti-Semitism during the siege on the Kosher deli. in Paris just a few months ago?

    • Jan Poddebsky says:

It would have taken more guts and had more weight if the President had made that speech on the campuses where anti-Semitism thrives and BDS grows like a fungus in the wet dark. Or if he’d made a little trip into the Muslim world and uttered the same speech in Gaza, or the West Bank, or Teheran.
