Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and the Australian Government have formally welcomed the Lausanne framework for Iran’s nuclear development.

Member for Melbourne Ports Michael Danby said, “When Ms Bishop is in Tehran next week, she should ask and evaluate the meaning of Iran’s persistent threats to eliminate the State of Israel.”

During the final days of the Lausanne negotiations, General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, the head of the Basij, reiterated his country’s ongoing commitment to the elimination of Israel. “Erasing Israel off the map” It was “non-negotiable”, he said. Mr Danby said, “It is these persistent threats to destroy a sovereign state of eight million people that undermine belief in Western—including Australian—public opinion, that Iran’s nuclear program has a peaceful intent.”

Mr Danby said that he shared the concerns of former Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and George Shultz and has written to that effect (http://www.danbymp.com/published-articles/2170-the-lausanne-nuclear-framework-deal-with-iran.html).

    Kevin Charles Herbert,
Are the Iranian leaders themselves, including Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenie, credible enough references for you? Just google them and see.

  2. Kevin Charles Herbert says:

Can anyone please supply a credible reference as to where & when Iran has threatened to wipe Israel off the map.

The above mentioned tabloid Times of Israel ‘news’ is unsourced, and therefore has no journalistic credibility.

Even the pro Israel New York Times stopped making this unsupported claim a few years ago

    • Henry Herzog says:

the only way Mr Herbert will be convinced that wiping Israel off the map hasn’t been taken off the table is if Iran tries doing just that: But that will never happen. Rather than Iran not maintaining it’s aim of destroying Israel, it should be saying that it has trashed that plan, which it hasn’t. Mr Herbert, we, the Jewish people, have copped a lot because of Western powers making deals with those who have wanted to exterminate us, particularly 6 million murdered in the most barbaric ways, by the Nazis, and it’s not going to ever happen again.

  3. Alan Baden says:

Bishop will only follow the US lead. The question won’t be asked. The answer is already known. Unfortunately Israel will need to colloborate with the Saudi dictatorship to effect an air strike on Iran. With the Russians now supplying Iran with quality Anti Aircraft missiles(because the US has now shown the Russians that there is no threat,a successful pre-emptive strike appears less likely because 1. it will be hard to be effective without losing lots of israeli planes and 2. World public opinion (including US) would be unprecedented and pave the way for Israel’s absolute isolation…….so be it!

  4. Rabbi Pinchos Woolstone says:

Obama’s negotiations with Iran will fail, there will never be a signed agreement.
Iran is intent on becoming a nuclear military power, this is becoming crystal clear, even Kerry will be unable to sign to a deceitful document.
Just as Hitler spoke to the issue of the destruction of European Jewry and was only partially taken seriously, so to now the West is only partial listening to the Iranian leadership talking to the issue of destroying Israel.
The difference now is, Israel can and will strike first if their destruction is imminent.
