Why is everyone wasting their time on this, because

IT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN ?

You want to know why?

It will offend the Muslim/Arab world, that’s why and there are far more of them than there are of us.

Last year an Arab refused to contest a sorting event as there was an Israeli competing too.

So much for sport being non-political. Of course it is.

It is, indeed, a most decent act by our Government.

I cannot understand why nobody seems interested in apporaching the Australian Olympic Committee asking it to make the same request. AOC is right there at the centre of IOC and they would be the 1st institution to call for this important move.

Any chance that at least ECAJ would do that !!???

Absolutely brilliant! It is amazing that the ALP and Coalition have thrown their support behind this worthwhile initiative. Let’s hope it bears some fruit.

If the IOC doesn’t hold a minute of silence, I suggest that the audience that would like to observe this, all stand when the IOC president starts speaking and turn their backs to the stage. There’s a good chance that many others will stand too. Likewise those of us watching on TV around the world do the same at home, muting the sound.

If this is well publicised there’s a good chance that the IOC will react positively.
