Café owner Jessie Meguideche was prepared for his high profile guests as his Rose Bay premises had been cleared by thorough security checks ahead of the visit.

The word had gone around and the café was packed when Sara Netanyahu and Lucy Turnbull arrived.

Café manager Fernardo Derlindati stood at Jessie’s side as the two women ordered piccolo coffees and juices. The two spent half an hour at Jessie’s chatting….a perfect respite from their busy schedule with their husbands.

Fernardo told J-Wire: “The visit has not made a difference to our Friday trade. It’s always very, very busy.”

Jessie Meguideche said that his mother died when he was five and she is buried in Israel. The 33-yr-old baker told J-Wire: “I went to Israel five years ago and I visited her grave for the first time.” The ex-Sydney Yeshiva student added: “We were only told recently from the Prime Minister’s Office that the shop ticked all the boxes but they were dealing with Fernando and I only found about the visit  a few days ago.”

Speaking about his famous guests, Jessie added: “They represent my two favourite countries.”

J-Wire asked Jessie if had an open invitation for Lucy Turnbull, he said: “Any time…and bring your husband along.”

Lets drop the US term First Lady. They the wives or spouses of the respective PM’s.

The term First Lady came into existence in the USA in the 1800’s when a bachelor President was elected so he asked a female relative to manage the White House and to be a hostess at official functions. The term then stuck for the wives of later US Presidents.

In the US I have heard the ridiculous term First Daughter in the media too.

Wonderful to see the First Lady of the Jewish State together with her Australian counterpart specifically dining at a Kosher cafe.
Another terrific aspect of the first Israeli Prime- Ministerial visit Down-Under.
