Melbourne’s Yeshivah-Beth Rivkah Schools Limited (YBRSL) has been accepted into the National Redress Scheme (NRS).

The NRS was created in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and provides acknowledgement and support to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse. It can provide three things:

  • access to counselling;
  • a payment; and
  • a direct personal response from the institution (e.g. an apology) for people who want it.

In a letter sent to parents, the school wrote: “We are pleased to have been accepted into the scheme. We hope that this will be a further step towards healing for the victims and their families, and providing them with another avenue through which to achieve Redress.”
