Wentworth candidates in forum
Three of the candidates in the Wentworth by-election will appear in a moderated forum at the The New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies plenum.
Tim Murray (ALP), Dr Kerryn Phelps (Independent) and Dave Sharma (Lib) will appear at the Plenum at the NCJW House in Woollahra.
The forum will be moderated by ECAJ Co-CEO Peter Wertheim.
Board of Deputies President Lesli Berger said: “The forum will be a unique opportunity to meet three of the leading candidates and to hear their views on a range of issues, including on Israel and on matters relating specifically to the Jewish community.”
The plenum will be held in the National Council of Jewish Women Council House in Queen St on Tuesday, October 16 at 7:30 pm.
Adrian, It’s not so long ago that a female Greens candidate in Melbourne refused to be part of a debate due to her fear of being associated with Zionists. The Greens are pro-Palestinian in the most fashionably Western-intellectual way, so that rules out an open mind where Israel is concerned. Insofar as Jews are concerned, they hypocritically pay lip-service to good wishes for Jewish festivals while undermining the Jewish people in regard to Israel. Why would we invite them?
Yes and it was in my electorate of Melbourne Ports too. However the forum was organised to promote Mr Danby really and all the other candidates should have been invited.
I agree with Rabbi Chaim Ingram. No Greens candidate but one of the Independents gets an invitation?
The same “selective” candidates were invited to Melbourne Ports candidates forums in the past too. I went to one were there were 8 candidates but only 4 were invited they being the Labor, Liberal, Democrats (remember them) and the Greens.
Would you kindly provide us with the date and time and do we need to register?
No Greens candidate is invited but an independent is?
Why have other candidates not been invited to attend?
We should remember that there are Jews, both here in Australia and overseas, who support a Palestine state.
