We wish to acknowledge the Hon Mathew Guy, Minister for Planning, and Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship together with Hon David Southwick, Member for Caulfield and Parliamentary Secretary for Police and Emergency Services who announced at the Melbourne Holocaust Centre this morning specific funding to address the emergency management procedures in our schools.

We also wish to acknowledge The Hon James Merlino, Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Minister for Education together with Mr Josh Burns, ALP candidate for Caulfield who announced support for this program at the Beth Rivkah Ladies College.

The commitment of both Parties to our schools and schools at risk, in respect to developing measures of this type is very much appreciated.

The bi-partisan approach is indicative of the need. We welcome the State recognition of this need

These funds will compliment the Federal Secure Schools Programme allowing better protection against an unwarranted incident from those intent on causing harm.

We thank both the State Liberal Party and the State ALP for this initiative and for its support.
