Among those honoured were community members Ralph Joseph and Julia Golding who received it on behalf of her board and staff.

“During Seniors Week it is important that we recognise seniors who make invaluable contributions our community and organisations that enrich the lives of others,” Ms Upton said.

Among the recipients in the Vaucluse Electorate were:

  • Mrs Judy Hansen of Double Bay for her outstanding through volunteering with seniors community groups, such as Rose Bay Over 50’s Walking Group
  • Mr John Fraser of Vaucluse for his contribution to North Bondi RSL Sub Branch
  • Mr Ralph Joseph of Double Bay for his contribution to local community groups such as Bondi Lions Club and causes such as Parkinson’s disease
  • Ms Julia Golding and staff, management and board of Jewish Centre on Ageing (COA) for its contribution to seniors in the Eastern Suburbs through provision of services and community outreach (recognised as an organisation). Ms Golding is CEO.

“Congratulations to Judy, John and Ralph on their awards of which they are highly deserving, for the commitment and generosity they demonstrate to our local community.”

“Congratulations to COA for its award, which recognises the significant support and services it provides to Jewish seniors in my electorate such as delivering Kosher meals on wheels and organising outings.”

“These recipients represent the vast talent, generosity of spirit, energy and goodwill of seniors and the best of our society in the care and services that can be provided to seniors.”

The NSW Seniors Week Local Achievement Awards are just one way the NSW Government is recognising seniors during 2015 NSW Seniors Week, which is being held from 14 – 22 March. An estimated 250,000 seniors are expected to attend more than 1,000 local events throughout the state during the week.

The activities support the objectives of the NSW Ageing Strategy, which was launched to support the health and wellbeing of seniors. For more information about NSW Seniors Week events visit www.nswseniorsweek.com.au.
