The recent Keren Hayesod-UIA World Conference concluded with a gala dinner at which nine dedicated and committed volunteers from around the world were honoured and presented  with the Yakir award.

Harold Finger and Stanley Roth, both Life President’s and long serving volunteers holding many vital positions on the Executive of UIA NSW, were two recipients awarded the prestigious Yakir Award in front of an audience of 500 people by Israel’s Minister of Defense, Ehud Barak, World Chairman of Keren Hayesod-UIA, Ambassador Avi Pazner and Director General of Keren Hayesod-UIA Greg Masel.

The Yakir Keren Hayesod Award, celebrating its “Bar Mitzvah” this year, was instituted in 1998 to mark Israel’s 50th anniversary.

This prestigious award is presented to leaders of Keren Hayesod – United Israel Appeal, in recognition of their outstanding commitment and achievements to promote the aims and goals of Keren Hayesod in Israel and around the world.  The recipients of the Yakir Award have demonstrated their identification and solidarity with Jewish concerns on the local, national and international level. By deed and example, they embody the vibrant and resilient bridge of cooperation and partnership, between world Jewry and the State of Israel. They have inspired countless others to emulate their commitment to our people and heritage.
