UIA to launch art exhibition
Keren Hayesod-UIA NSW is to hold its inaugural art exhibition, Israel NOW, in the iconic Rocks precinct.

Israel NOW is designed to bring a comprehensive selection of works by contemporary Israeli artists, living in Israel or internationally, to Sydney. It is curated by well-known Israeli art dealer Major Assour with further assistance from Bambi Blumberg, Art Basel’s representative in Australia & New Zealand.

Exhibition coordinator and UIA NSW executive member Joshua Biggs is excited that the exhibition will “showcase works by numerous Israeli artists and will not only provide a wonderful cultural link between Israel and Australia it will also provide a valuable source of revenue from sales for both the artists and KH-UIA.”
UIA NSW CEO Yair Miller further commented that “this fantastic initiative is a great way to connect our community and Israel and in turn support Israel’s most valuable asset – OUR PEOPLE. We encourage the community to come and experience Israeli art and enjoy a little of Israel here in Sydney.”
The impressive list of artists includes Tal Shochat, Zadok ben David, Arik Levy, Menashe Kadishman, Yaakov Agam, Eran Shakine, Sigalit Landau, Yuval Yairi, Lee Yanor, Zoya Cherkassky, Ruth Bloch, Tolla Inbar, David Kassman, Angelika Sher and Nissim ben Aderet.
Through the medium of painting, photography, sculpture and video work, a range of social, political and environmental issues relevant to Israeli contemporary life will be reflected. This will provide KH-UIA donors and avid art collectors in the wider Australian Jewish Community the opportunity to engage and experience Israel’s talent pool on local shores. It will cater to different levels of interest from the younger members/novices at entry level price points to the more seasoned collectors familiar with higher prices commensurate with established and world-class art.
The exhibition will showcase Israeli culture, whilst opening up a new market for Israeli artists.
The exhibition will be open to the community for viewing and sales on Sunday September 4 from 10:30am to 5:00pm and Monday and Tuesday September 5 and 6 from 10am to 5:00pm. It will move to Melbourne after Sydney.
