Trump signals Abbas must end indiscriminate slaughter of Jews

The horrific carnage perpetrated in Manchester on 22 May presented an emotion-charged backdrop to two meetings the next day between President Trump and President Abbas in Bethlehem and President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem…writes David Singer.Trump pointedly told Abbas:

“Peace can never take root in an environment where violence is tolerated, funded and even rewarded.  We must be resolute in condemning such acts in a single, unified voice.  Peace is a choice we must make each day — and the United States is here to help make that dream possible for young Jewish, Christian and Muslim children all across the region.”

Netanyahu did not mince his words telling Trump:

“Terrorism, the deliberate slaughter of innocents, must be equally condemned and equally fought, whether it strikes in Europe, in America or in Israel – or for that matter, anywhere else. And as you said this morning, Mr. President, funding and rewarding terrorism must end.

Standing next to you, President Abbas condemned the horrific attack in Manchester. Well, I hope this heralds a real change, because if the attacker had been Palestinian and the victims had been Israeli children, the suicide bomber’s family would have received a stipend from the Palestinian Authority. That’s Palestinian law. That law must be changed.”

Abbas presides over the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) whose Charter openly promotes a culture of violence and incitement urging Palestinian Arabs to kill Jews.

Article 7 of the Charter provides:

“It is a national duty to bring up individual Palestinians in an Arab revolutionary manner … He must be prepared for the armed struggle and ready to sacrifice his wealth and his life in order to win back his homeland and bring about its liberation.”

Article 9 prescribes:

“Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine. This it is the overall strategy, not merely a tactical phase. The Palestinian Arab people assert their absolute determination and firm resolution to continue their armed struggle and to work for an armed popular revolution for the liberation of their country and their return to it”

Article 10 declares:

“Commando action constitutes the nucleus of the Palestinian popular liberation war. This requires its escalation, comprehensiveness, and the mobilisation of all the Palestinian popular and educational efforts and their organisation and involvement in the armed Palestinian revolution.”

Every time a Jew is stabbed, run over, murdered in his bed or whilst praying in a Synagogue, blown up dining in a restaurant or attending a nightclub, killed by stones thrown at his car or targeted in drive by shootings – Palestinian Arabs – radicalised and encouraged by the PLO Charter to perpetrate such heinous crimes – are treated as heroes – many having schools named after them. Their families are rewarded by Abbas paying them monthly pensions which totalled $300 million in 2016.

Abbas declared on 16 September 2015:

“We bless every drop of blood that has been spilled for Jerusalem, which is clean and pure blood, blood spilled for Allah, Allah willing. Every Martyr (Shahid) will reach Paradise, and everyone wounded will be rewarded by Allah.”

Trump told  the Arab-Islamic-American Summit in Riyadh on 21 May:

“A better future is only possible if your nations drive out the terrorists and extremists. Drive. Them. Out. DRIVE THEM OUT of your places of worship. DRIVE THEM OUT of your communities. DRIVE THEM OUT of your holy land, and DRIVE THEM OUT OF THIS EARTH.”

Trashing the hate-filled PLO Charter and ending incitement to indiscriminately slaughter Jews are necessary steps in this process.

Abbas will end up in the diplomatic wilderness if he ignores the messages delivered by both Trump and Netanyahu.

I’m curious to know how many Jews have been slaughtered by Palestinians since, say the year 2000? I understand that at least 8000 West Bank Palestinians (including 1900 children) have been killed by Israel in this time but am lacking the comparable figure.

What a depressing picture you have painted David.
Humanly speaking there is NO HOPE of resolution.
BUT, in a recent article, Melanie Philips, a “UK Times” journalist opined that President Trump has struck a significant note of contention and optimism. She declared that unlike his predecessors, who tried to bludgeon Israel into an enforced agreement with the Palestinians, his agenda appeared to move beyond nationality to embrace the ‘religious’ nature of the conflict.
Until there is a passion for harmony between the ‘religious’ factions, particularly Islam and the rest, there will NEVER be a solution. So an appeal in Saudi Arabia, Israel and Rome for common sense and decency to prevail is President Trump’s call to leaders of Islam, Judaism and Christianity to bring an end to the religious divide and to work in good faith for a peaceful outcome. One can only be optimistic that decency will prevail. But on a personal level, skepticism about Islam’s capacity to be ‘reasonable’ clouds the issue for me.
However, I am prepared to give President Trump full marks for “thinking outside the square”.

My point relates to the heading of your article (which I recognize you might not have chosen) . I was just asking how many Jews have been slaughtered by Palestinians since 2000. Also the 8000 figure I quoted does not include gaza only the West Bank

        Martyn

        I did choose the heading.

You sought to distort that heading by referring to the word “slaughter” and not the phrase “indiscriminate slaughter” in the best traditions of Arab propaganda that has sought to equate the indiscriminate slaughter of Jews with the accidental deaths of Arabs unfortunately caught up in the middle of military operations.

This indiscriminate slaughter of Jews by Arabs did not begin in 2000. It started in 1920 and has not let up since then. You do your credibility and impartiality no good in the choice of a starting date that seeks to blot out what happened during the previous 80 years.

Murder is murder no matter how many are the victims.

Any society and its leaders openly and officially encouraging, inciting, condoning and indeed rewarding such murders needs to be condemned and isolated from all further political engagement – not accorded the red carpet treatment.

That has to stop and this is what Trump and Netanyahu were addressing as I pointed out in my article.

Do you agree or disagree with their point of view?

I chose 2000 as a convenient starting point . I could have chosen any date. My point is : references to “indiscrimate slaughter” is very inflammatory and I am curious to know the actual numbers that back up this statement. If there is to be peace certainly killings must stop as does settlement constructions, and housing demolitions (about 50000 si ce 1967) surely you would agree ?
          Martyn

2000 maybe a convenient starting point for you. It is not for Jews who have been murdered, wounded and traumatised for the previous 80 years by fanatical Arabs wielding knives, axes, and wearing suicide belts as they started their murderous assaults from as early as 1920.

“Indiscrimiate slaughter” inflammatory? What do you call the brutal slaying of five members of one family asleep in their beds? What would you call the blowing up of a bus killing and wounding scores of passengers?

Do you like the word “killings”? Would you dare use the word “murder” because that is what these acts are?

Now you try to get off the subject of indiscriminate slaughter by asking the following question:
“If there is to be peace certainly killings must stop as does settlement constructions, and housing demolitions (about 50000 si ce 1967) surely you would agree ?”

            Surely I would not agree.

All Jews living in East Jerusalem, Gaza and Judea and Samaria were forcibly driven from their homes in 1948 by six invading Arab armies. Between 1948 and 1967 not one Jew lived in these areas, not one settlement was constructed and there were no house demolitions – but this did not bring peace. What the Arabs want now they could have had at any time between 1948 to 1967 but they preferred to wage war – not make peace.

I have answered your question. Now will you do me the courtesy of answering the question I posed to you:

“Murder is murder no matter how many are the victims.

Any society and its leaders openly and officially encouraging, inciting, condoning and indeed rewarding such murders needs to be condemned and isolated from all further political engagement – not accorded the red carpet treatment.

Interestingly Norway has already taken welcome steps to support Trump and Netanyahu.

              David,
I had seriously considered responding to Martyn. I am glad I didn’t.
Thankyou for so succinctly describing the situation Israel finds itself in. Horrible.
President Trump appears to me to have ‘cut to the chase’, having a less than politically correct view of the situation, and is not afraid to declare it.
Angela Merkel stated this week-end that there is no connection between Islam and terrorism. What appalling blindness to truth.

Does anyone know how much international aid the Palestinians receive?
How much is spent on tunnel building equipment and supplies?
How much is spent on family support of those who murder civilians ?
How much is spent on hate filled education of future generations?
Who, in the donor nations, monitors the uses to which their international aid is put?
