The 38-yr-old took YouTube viewers on a trip across the Swan River in Perth to an IGA store outside which a peaceful Palestinian demonstration was taking place protesting the sale of Israeli fruit. In the video, O’Connell confronts two Jewish youths on video  resulting in the State Security Investigation group charging him with carrying out conduct intending to incite racial animosity or harassment.

O’Connell pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Perth Magistrates Court yesterday and his bail was continued.

The offences O’Connell is charged with  carry a maximum penalty of a fine up to $24,000 or a maximum jail sentence of 14 years.
