Sydney will soon be treated to the award-winning adaptation of Chaim Potok’s well-loved film The Chosen for the stage…writes Deb Meyer.

Produced in conjunction with Shalom College, Moira Blumenthal will be directing the play about two boys, two fathers and two very different Jewish communities – ‘five blocks and a world apart’.

For the first 2 weeks in September, the producers are inviting the public to host an evening or matinee. As a means of fundraising, organisations are being encouraged to choose a date from August 27 to September 14 and sell the seats on a ‘sale or return’ basis. This can be combined with a Q and A session on relevant topics or a wine and cheese evening where guests can meet the cast. The theatre holds 115 and seats for fund-raisers are reduced to $28 compared with the public ticket price of $40.

Performance times at Shalom College will be 7.30pm plus Sunday matinees at 2pm.
