Sydney’s The Shabbat Project 2015 promises to be bigger and better than last year’s.

A planning meeting held at Sydney’s Central Synagogue organisers said that the project would be “An insight into the power of Shabbat”.

The Shabbat Project was conceived by South Africa’s Rabbi Warren Goldstein as a way to disconnect in order to reconnect with family, friends and community encouraging all community members to keep the Shabbat from sunset to stars out.

Sydney will join 465 communities around the world to bring thousands of people together.

  • 3,000 at Havdallah Concert

Representatives from Sydney communal organisations attended the presentation by organisers where they heard plans for how the global initiative will be taken in a different direction.

envisaged that groups within each Hub will co-ordinate and work together

Community organisations and individual volunteers are encouraged to sign-up online:

Some of the events will include Kids Zones, Shabbat Day Walks, Meals on Shabbat and Educational Lectures.

Partners are encouraged to work with Hub Leaders to plan events for the lead up to and during the Shabbat.
