As the 550 participants headed home to Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New Zealand with host state members getting their daily schedules back to normal, J-Wire spoke to carnival organiser Danny Hochberg.

He told us that there had been “massive, positive feedback” from parents and that the few incidents which had occurred as they always do “had been handled effectively and switly”.

The Carnival ended with a party at the Scientia Building at the University of New South Wales with Carnival opener Maccabi Australia president Lisa Borowick presenting tributes to the Carnival management team and the presentation of the flag to a delegation from Perth which will host the event in 2014.

Hochberg said: “We ran the Carnival in a sports tournament style this year…an exciting fast format which suited the attention span of many of those participating. All went sensationally well…it even rained during the mud run.”

Maccabi introduced special events including an iron man competition and a community day which saw the carnival boys and girls head out to fifteen different charities to offer voluntary help.

Hochberg concluded: “Yet again, Carnival has cemented new friendships which will last a lifetime.”
