The Lowys honoured by the IPO

Thousands of  subscribers to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra crowded Tel Aviv’s Charles Bronfman Auditorium (Heichal Hatarbut)  for its gala series concert dedicated to Sydney-based supporters Shirley and Frank Lowy.

Westfield shopping centre group co-founder Lowy and his wife Shirley are honorary governors of the IPO’s international board.

At the festive reception, the couple received a special recogntion for their longstanding support to the IPO. Honoring the couple were Chava and Alfred Akirov, Yael and Rami Unger, Batia and Ido Dissentshik, Micky and Michal Zellermayer, Sammy and Tova Segal, Ami and Lizika Sagi, Benny and Anat Padani, Yossi Hachmi, Dan and Janice Gillerman, Zalman Shoval, Aliza Yaffe, Rami Mehudar and more.

Frank Lowy noted, “I was looking for an opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. I feel that this donation is one my greatest achievements.”

IPO Chairman, Attorney Micky Zellermayer stated, “Shirley and Frank are among our most generous benefactors, and have been part of the Philharmonic family for many years. We are pleased to see them here tonight at the concert in their honor, and are honored to bestow this tribute award to them. I sincerely hope to see them at our side in years to come.”

The IPO was conducted by Ilan Volkov and performed Mahler’s Ruckert Lieder followed by his Sixth Symphony.
