The Greens today, requested that their opposition to a motion condemning the boycott and persecution of the Max Brenner chocolate stores be recorded in Hansard.

Senator Ron Boswell

Queensland Senator Ron Boswell issued the following statement

Today I moved a motion —that the Senate—

(a) condemns certain extremist groups and individuals and their calls for a boycott of the Israeli confectionary company ‘Max Brenner’ and all other Israeli companies that manufacture and sell products to and within Israel, as part of the Global Boycott Divestments and Sanctions (GBDS), banning any links with Israeli organisations or organisations that support Israel and prohibiting any academic, government, sporting or cultural exchanges with Israel;

(b) acknowledges that Israel is a legitimate and democratic state and a good friend of Australia;

(c) recognises the right of the company Max Brenner to operate in Australia as a lawful and legitimate business, which should be able to operate unhindered and without persecution;

(d) denounces the boycott of this business and any other business engaging in free and lawful trade with the state of Israel; and

(d) calls on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission to investigate any secondary boycotts being imposed on Max Brenner

Labor, the Independents and the Coalition supported the motion leaving the Greens to oppose. The Greens today showed their true colours (Red) when their leader, Senator Brown stood up and requested that their opposition be noted rather than calling a division.

When confronted with the motion the Greens knew that they could not afford to be seen to support such a blatantly antisemitic and unlawful boycott, but privately they do.

The Greens were trying to fly under the radar and are ashamed of their actions or they would have divided.

Since the new Senators have arrived the party has moved further and further to the left neglecting their environmental agenda.  The environment is playing second fiddle to the socialist alliance agenda.

By opposing the resolution the Greens are now defending extreme left groups, the Green Left Weekly magazine, Geelong Trade Hall, Australians for Palestine, and the Palestine Solidarity Society. These groups were all reported as be ing involved in the boycott and picketing of the Israeli store, Max Brenner.

The actions of these groups and the refusal of the Greens to condemn them, is un-Australian and has no place in this country and should sound a warning to all those who vote for the Greens who believe them to be a benign cuddly environmental party and somewhere safe to park your vote. They are an extreme left and anti-Israeli party. The irony is that both the extreme left and the extreme right pursue anti-Israeli policies.

A spokesman for The Executive Council of Australian Jewry told J-Wire: “It has been five years since official representatives of the Australian Jewish community have had a meeting with Senator Brown. There is regular dialogue with the leaders of the major parties. Senator Brown continues ro refer us to the Greens’ national policy director.”

    I suggest Bob and his socialist’s should drive from Capital Hill to the Max Brenner store at Belconnen once in a while. There they will see Australian’s from all walks of life and faiths (yes Bob even Muslim’s) sitting and enjoying what’s on offer. Come on the next Federal election please!

    This story is apparently unsourced. Can we have a source for a report calling the greens party a red party, please?

      The story clearly is sourced from a statement made by senator Ron Boswell. Senator Brown is yet to respond to questions sent to him.

    In case anyone wanted to know there is a protest going to be held at Max Brenner in Newtown in Sydney on Saturday August 20th at 1 P.M. I’m not sure which group is responsible for this protest but it would be great if we had some people from our side that could attend in order to counteract it like some members of AUJS did when there was a protest at the Max Brenner store in Parramatta.

    If supporters of the Australian Jewish Community and Israel just simply go into the Newtown Max Brenner store on Saturday and order a hot chocolate that will be enough to show your support! 🙂

    It is very interesting to read the Sen Brown, sent to Canberra to advance environmental “green” issues has now publically revealed his true black/red (fascist/communist) anti-Jewish position. During the NSW state election he dissociated himself from the same NSW Greens BDS position which he now publicly endorses. It is a menace to our society that so many good causes have been infiltrated and subverted by authoritarian manipulators to advance their own subversive agendas.

    Once it was ok to oppose the racist apartheid regimes in South Africa, Southern Rhodesia and South West Africa. Now it seems one is an extremist when we oppose the racist apartheid regime in Jerusalem.
    Among those who attempted to sail to Gaza were elderly survivors of the 1940’s Shoah. Yet all support the Boycott have been branded Anti-Semites.

    Time to recognise a free Palestine!
    Time to send the settlers back to Israel!
    End the Israeli blockade against the Gaza!
