Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion: “The city of Jerusalem and its residents are saddened by the difficult events that took place at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. We extend our sympathies and are sending a warm embrace to the French people from our capital, Jerusalem. For the next 24 hours, Jerusalem’s Notre Dame will be lit with the colours of the French flag.”

On Monday evening, a fire broke out at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, and it was almost half a day before it was extinguished. Firefighting crews rescued the ancient and magnificent building built in the 12th century from collapse but failed to prevent the burning of about two-thirds of the roof of the cathedral, which was built some 850 years ago, and the site’s unique spire.
The disaster struck a chord with people around the entire world for the loss of the treasures inside the building.
The city of Jerusalem chose to express its solidarity in the wake of the unfortunate events and illuminated the walls of Notre Dame in the city with the colours of the French flag.

Why? France invaded Anglo-Saxon/Celtic Britain in 1066, persecuted Jews and Protestants for centuries before and after the reformation, burnt France war heroine Joan of Arc alive, helped cause WW1 in an alliance with Imperial Russia and in WW2 allowed the Vichy government control of southern France, deported France citizens to Germany, including many Jews, who were slaughtered, were incompetent colonialist in North Africa, Indo China and the infamies Devils Island prison. Lets not forget that monster Napoleon Bonaparte. France opposed UK membership of the EU and are now making it difficult for the UK to leave the EU with other continental nations. More recently Sarkozy banned religious personal adornment like skull caps, hijabs and crosses in public buildings and schools. The French government are pathetic and always has been.
