The Changemakers

B’nai B’rith & JNF will acknowledge those whose contributions have helped society.

The Jewish Change Makers Youth & Young Adults Achievement Awards will do that with the aim of the organiser  to have the entire Australian Jewish community involved in the nominating process.

The age groups recognised are youth, up to the age of 18 and young Adults in between the ages of 18 to 35. The nomination categories are as follows:

• Contribution to the Jewish Community
• Contribution to Australian Society
• Support for the State of Israel
• Leadership (for Young Adults only)

It is also hoped, as expressed by Ernie Friedlander, the President of the B’nai B’rith Alfred Dreyfus Unit , that “It will encourage others to become involved – also individuals in outlaying areas to be recognised for their efforts. “

JNF brings to the table exposure to other States to be involved, enthusiasm and heart, which naturally B’nai B’rith is also known for. Etty Ayalon from JNF believes that “our community is blessed with young achievers and visionaries and the Changemaker Awards is our opportunity to nurture and embrace our future generation.”

In addition to the prize money awarded to the winners, all nominees will appear with their photos and an outline of their good deeds in a brochure produced specially for this event. The brochures will be available at the prize giving ceremony on Sunday 29 March at the B’nai B’rith Centre. Each nominee will also have a tree planted in their name by JNF together with a certificate of acknowledgement.

Last year’s winners were: Jessica Harrison, Liron Smith, Brandon Srot, Gary Samowitz, Joel Kuperhol, Shayne Slotar. There were also two Highly Commended Awards to Rabbi Mendy Litzman and Jonathan Markowitz.
