Premier Baird told J-Wire: “The role of CRC Chair should always be about harmony and I support Mr Alhadeff’s decision to stand down following concerns raised by the Muslim community.”

“My hope is that harmony will prevail and Mr Alhadeff’s resignation has provided a basis for that.

“I’d like to thank Vic for promoting intercultural harmony during his role at the CRC. I have no doubt he’ll continue to be a strong advocate for peace and tolerance in our multicultural community.

“We are now searching for a replacement and will be looking for someone who is focused on maintaining harmony within all of the State’s multicultural communities.”

I agree absolutely with Paul Winter’s comments. Vic Alhadeff’s response is more than disappointing, it’s highly damaging.

  2. Paul Winter says:

No thanks from me to Vic.

Unless I missed something, in his resignation, Vic said he regretted having caused offense and reiterated his commitment to communal harmony.

What he stated in his email was NOT offensive: it was the truth. Instead of conceding that his comments were improper, he should have stood by them; he let himself down, he let our community down and he let down our Israeli brothers and sister. The truth is never offensive!

Further, there is and can never be harmony with a part of the community that is offended by the truth. Vic let everyone down by failing to make that point.

And no thanks to Baird. He buckled to a dishonest pack of dogs that bay and bark because he wants their vote and he too seeks communal harmony by appeasing an aggressive mob that seek special privileges for itself. It never genuinely decries the jihadis in its midst, the butchery in Syria and Iraq or its over-representation in drugs, gun violence or car rebirthing. And it calls anyone who does not submit or who dares to state the obvious, a racist or an islamophobe.

But there is a much greater issue than Vic’s sacking. In a society where the telling the truth has penalties and lies must be accepted is one which presents danger for Jews. And that is the greatest failing of Vic and his clever mates. For that there is no thanks and no forgiveness.
