Mount Sinai College

MT SINAI

OUR SCHOOL

Mount Sinai College is a co-educational, modern Orthodox Jewish day school focused on academic outcomes that create out of the square thinkers who are community minded and socially aware.

Our College continues to innovate and lead in so many areas – we are the home of the Feuerstein Centre in Sydney and an Apple Distinguished School.

We expect so much more of our students than they expect of themselves, encouraging them always to move forward, one foot in front of the other on their journey as learners for life.

When you walk into a Mount Sinai classroom you will see collaboration, problem-solving, visible learning, persistence, humour, engagement, diverse technology supporting teaching and learning, challenges, differentiation, multiple modes of learning and most importantly – relationship building.

We believe that the classroom of today should be inviting, flexible, versatile and open. Parents who come to Mount Sinai College recognise that the classroom of today, cannot, and should not be, the classroom they experienced.   We aim to develop optimistic, critical and creative thinkers who will be learners for life.

JEWISH LIFE

Mount Sinai College provides an opportunity for a profoundly different education that speaks to the soul. Remaining a stronghold of Jewish values and learning is paramount as we adapt our Jewish Studies and Hebrew curriculum and pedagogy to suit the needs of 21st century learners. Jewish learning is not simply a subject area; it encapsulates the heartbeat of our school. It is experienced in rich, meaningful ways that equips each student with the tools and knowledge to further develop their own Jewish Identity thus actively ensuring Jewish continuity.

The Feuerstein Centre is based on learning model developed by world renowned Professor Reuven Feuerstein. This cognitive learning program focuses on helping learners to process information more effectively. The various “instruments” used require the learner to use particular cognitive functions that help them develop thinking techniques that not only enhance information processing skills but enable them to function as independent learners. The program focuses on how children learn, rather than just what they learn.
