At a time when several fashion designers have been forced to shut up shop from the economic downturn, a well-known fashion brand in Melbourne and manufactured in Australia, is expanding its business into Sydney.

Fella Hamilton, an Australian-owned family business specialising in fashion for the 50+ woman, will open its doors for the first time in Sydney at Shop 1, 4-12 Waverley Street Mall, Bondi Junction on Wednesday 10 June 2009.

Fella Hamilton offers Australian-made, high quality designs for today’s fashion conscious woman in sizes 8 – 20.  Established in 1969, Fella Hamilton has 12 retail stores throughout Melbourne and an online store.

Director of Fella Hamilton, David Hamilton, said the fashion house had answered demand by opening a retail store in Sydney.

“While our brand is well established in Melbourne, we have about 4000 customers from Sydney and New South Wales. There is a wider-network outside Melbourne for our fashion and clothing and we want to provide Sydney women with our retail experience,” Mr Hamilton said.

The Sydney store opening will lead to increased jobs in both retail and manufacturing – a buck in current industry trends due to the global, financial crisis.
