Leaders of a number of Christian Zionist organisations have joined with representatives of the two Jewish communal roof bodies – the Zionist Federation of Australia (ZFA) and the Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) for a lunch get together.

Ian Worby, Onno Bakker, Jacqui Bakker, Peter Wertheim, Bill Rizopoulos, Barry Rodgers, Joy Heylen, Dr Ron Weiser, Jane O’Neill, Sally Weiser, Dan Steege, Keith Buxton, Roger Selby and Matthew Chivers

Christian groups represented included: Christians for Israel; Bridges For Peace; the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem; and the Australian Christian Network for Israel and a representative from the Australian Light Horse Association.

Aside from being a wonderful occasion for all parties working in a common cause to interact socially at the home of Sally and Ron Weiser, it was also an opportunity to discuss future activity and the promotion of Israel’s interests.

Ron Weiser told J-Wire: “As we sit within the 10 days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur and on the eve of the Day of Atonement, it is especially heartening for the Jewish community to feel the friendship and warmth that exists for our community and Israel and to really take great strength from the fact we are indeed blessed to have such strong and true supporters.”

One has to applaud our Christian friends who have the courage to take on selfless and purely voluntary ambassadorial roles within the general community on behalf of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. They illuminate the darkness of a world where antisemitism has once again gained ground. Their constructive friendship and humanitarian concern for the future of our people are a welcome source of comfort and strength and, indeed, enlightenment in troubling times.
