With functions set to take place almost immediately, the hotel will assume its position in the Jewish calendar for simchas and communal events it had many years ago in its former life as the Ritz-Carlton.

Under the Kashruth Authority the hotel has installed two Kosher kitchens, one fleishich and the other milchich. The two kitchens share one coolroom with a metal mechitza separating the two food sources.

Thomas Feller, the Banquet Duty Manager told J-Wire: “We have a healthy number of bookings and look forward to a successful association with the community.”

The K-A’s Rabbi Aron Groner added: “Initially the hotel will be in a position to offer kosher food as part of its room service.”

Looking around the facilities was well-known event organiser Philip Carr who gave the hotel his nod of approval.

The kitchen will be available to all kosher caterers sanctioned by the K-A.

A spokesperson for The InterContinental told J-Wire: “Our Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 550 cocktail-style and around 360 for sit-down lunches and dinners. It can also be split into 3 spaces, each for around 120 sit-down. We have 6 other function rooms also on the first floor of the hotel, from the Rose Bay Boardroom for up to 12 people, through to Keltie Cove for 150 cocktail-style.

We can organise in-house kosher catering for smaller meetings in our function spaces. Price is on application, but as an indication, we have a minimum spend in our Boardroom of $2500 for up to 12 people.”
