2017 Melbourne Jewish Comedy Festival (MJCF) expression of interest are now open till June 30 2017.

MJCF is a not for profit organisation celebrating culture through comedy.

The festival is a curated celebration showcasing Jewish comedy, cabaret and songs.

The festival will happen across 3 locations in Melbourne with four events planned.

Applications have already started coming in from around the world. The festival will be accommodating a large number of acts in what is sure to be an absolute smorgasbord of hilarity.

MJCF inaugurated in 2015 with 59 performers in 10 events across 6 locations, with over 1200 audience members laughing their way through the festival. MJCF is a bi annual festival with a smaller event being held every alternate year.

 

Festival Creative Director Justine Sless is also a comedian and award winning writer and says that interest and applications already flooding in from around the world, which will no doubt make this festival even bigger with even more laughs than in 2015.

This festival has been developed with a view to supporting performers from newcomers to more established acts. There is no registration fee to take part in the festival and all performers are paid a set fee, with the income from ticket sales put back into the festival to ensure that it is sustainable for years to come.

 

The festival seeks to celebrate the rich history of Jewish humor and show case new comedians to ensure that laughter is always centre stage of the Jewish cultural landscape.
