Shining in the HSC

81% of Sydney’s Moriah College students which sat for this years HSC achieved results in the Band 5 and 6 with students reached 90%+ included in Band 6.

Students who achieved results of 99% +:

Samantha Symonds – 99.85

Talia Fuzi – 99.8

Benjamin Ellis-Bloor – 99.7

Rebecca Shteinman – 99.65

Zachary Klein – 99.6

Talya Rubin – 99.45

Dux Rebecca Shteinman said: “My most significant achievements during High School include being chosen as School Captain, being awarded Colours for Academic Excellence and being part of the Future Problem Solving Team that competed in the USA at the International Finals. Moriah has educated me about my history as a Jewish person and has guided me towards my future Jewish life. I have had the privilege of experiencing what it means to be Jewish through programs like IST, Counterpoint and Shabbatonim. My special memories of High School include building close bonds with students and teachers. My main aspiration beyond school is to make a difference.”

Samantha Symonds is also dux based on her HSC results. She said: “Being a Pink Breakfast Convenor and being awarded Colours for Academic Excellence are among my most significant achievements during High School. Through prayers every morning, Counterpoint, and the celebration of all Jewish festivals, Moriah has

helped me to make the Jewish connections that have shaped my Jewish identity and spirituality. Purim celebrations, Music Festivals and the da Vinci Decathlon are special memories for me. My message to the Class of 2016 is – dreams don’t work unless you do.”

School principal John Hamey said: “The College stands proudly alongside the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2016 with the knowledge that many of our students have exceeded expectations, displaying perseverance, dedication and commitment during their HSC year. Our students have excelled academically and across a broad range of co-curricular activities showing considerable growth and maturity as young men and women. We are confident our students are well equipped to make a significant contribution to society, informed by the richness of their Jewish heritage and love for Israel. We wish them all b’hatzlacha for the future.”

Noah Abulafia

At nearby Reddam House School,  Noah Abulafia achieved an ATAR  of 99.65%

He was part of Reddam school judiciary and gave valedictory speech at speech night where he was major recipient of awards

Noah attended Emanuel School until year 6 where he was head boy in the year

He became the head boy in year 9 at Reddam.

Noah participates in various charities including JNF green Sunday telethon and has been on March Of Living .
