Sexual assault arrest in Sydney
A 49-yr-old man has appeared in Waverley Local Court charged with the indecent assault of two male children in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs in the 1980s.
Daniel Hayman was granted conditional bail with the matter being adjourned until November 20.
Rabbi Pinchus Feldman is the spiritual leader of the Sydney yeshiva Centre in Bondi which the two alleged victims attended. He has repeated his claims that he has no recollection of Hayman confessing his crimes in light of media claims that he did.
A report issued before Hayman’s court appearance by NSW police stated: “Strike force detectives have arrested and charged a man over the alleged historical indecent assaults of two children in Sydney’s east.
Strike Force Bungo was formed by detectives from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command in 2012 to investigate allegations of indecent assaults in the 1980s.
It’s alleged two boys, then aged 14 and 16, were indecently assaulted by a man between 1985 and 1986.
Following inquiries, a 49-year-old man was arrested in Queens Park about 11.30am yesterday (Monday 4 November 2013).
The man, who was a volunteer supervisor at camps for Jewish children at the time of the incidents, was taken to Waverley Police Station where he was charged with two counts of gross indecency by male with male under 18 years.
He’s been bail refused to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Tuesday 5 November 2013).
Advocacy group Tzedek has issued the following statement: “We look forward to seeing justice for the courageous victims in the Hayman case. We also expect that an investigation will be carried out in relation to what the Sydney Yeshiva leadership was aware of, and their response. We expect that everyone will be held to full account for their actions or inactions.”
Hayman has been living on Los Angeles and returned to Sydney to attend his mother’s funeral.
The offences are alleged to have taken place at the Sydney Yeshiva in 1985 and 1986.
J-Wire has received the following statement from the Sydney Yeshiva Centre:
“Mr Daniel Hayman was arrested yesterday on charges of child sexual abuse allegations from more than 25 years ago.
Mr Hayman attended Yeshiva Synagogue to pray or for classes but was never an employee or teacher at the Yeshiva Centre. Any volunteer work that he offered Yeshiva did not include responsibility for children.
Yeshiva unequivocally condemns any form of abuse, including child sexual abuse.
As part of a commitment to the highest standards of care for our pupils, our school Yeshiva College has comprehensive child protection policies in place. Those policies and procedures are constantly being reviewed and updated to ensure maximum safety and protection for our students.
Inquiries by Strike Force Bungo are continuing and anyone with information is urged to come forward.”
Not the first think Pinchas Feldman has forgotten ;).

Nice to see him taking a different stance then his son Yosef Feldman.
Tzedek Tzedek Tirdoif
November 15 court date in Melbourne for aaron ezriel Kestecher.
media will make public then
too many cases like this
It is very nice of Yeshiva to distance themselves from this matter but what relevance is there to Tzemach Tzedek? This occurred 25 years ago.
Conditional Bail?
SMH – “He has been refused bail and detectives want people with further information about the alleged 1980s offences to come forward.”
That was when he was arrested
He appeared in court yesterday as was reported and allwed bail…
Thanks for the clarification
He was actually never denied bail, nor was bail delayed. SMH has since changed what they wrote (although they are still mistaken). http://www.smh.com.au/national/daniel-hayman-charged-over-child-sex-at-bondis-jewish-yeshiva-centre-20131105-2wyl6.html
