Museum’s President Professor Gus Lehrer said “Rob brings to the Museum a wealth of experience in fundraising and communal endeavour and we are delighted that he is joining our team to help ensure the sustainability of the museum as a vital monument to the Holocaust, and preserver of the history of the Jewish community in Sydney.”

“Rob is already a familiar figure to the Sydney Jewish community as the long-serving former CEO of JNF Australia ” said Museum CEO Norman Seligman.

“We are delighted that he will be joining us at the museum to help us broaden our appeal and relevance to the community.”

Rob was a successful businessman and communal leader in both the Jewish and wider communities in his native home of South Africa, prior to coming to Australia in 1999. He played an active role in the world conservation arena for almost a half century including a pivotal role in the international campaign to save the rhino. In addition, he chaired a project aptly named Project Noah’s Ark to help conserve endangered animals of the Bible, as well as having served on the executive of the Jewish Aged Home in Johannesburg and the country communities and chaplaincy committees of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies.

Rob is excited to join the Sydney Jewish Museum team as he says that it is “an outstanding monument to the past whilst at the same time serving as a beacon of light for the future, ensuring that lessons are learned to promote a better understanding between different cultures of the need to ensure human dignity and mutual respect.”

Rob looks forward to meeting with members of the community interested in helping to ensure the Museum’s future sustainability and continued success.
