Federal Labor MP Michael Danby has questioned the report of Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd’s advice to abstain at next month’s Palestinian State vote in the United Nations as reported in The Age.

Michael Danby

In a statement to J-Wire, the member for Melbourne Ports said:  “Mr Rudd’s attitudes must have been misunderstood by the Age. He explicitly told me  and three junior ministers at a meeting we were invited by him to attend in his office in Canberra in May that Australia would vote against any unilateral announcements at the UN”

Michael Danby warned: “In any case the PM is the ultimate arbiter of Govt policy”.

The Age reported that Foreign Minister Rudd had recommended abstention in a letter to Prime Minister Julia Gillard who is a firm supporter of Israel.

    Simple question:

If Michael Danby is still on speaking terms with Kevin Rudd and, according to the above report, the conversation they had on the subject was in…May, what’s stopping Michael Danby from picking up the phone and ask Kevin Rudd right now about the letter and his standing on the issue !!!

What’s all this non-sense about speculating by Michael Danby???!!!

Readers here find fault with Rudd’s policy of abstaining from the vote, by opposing the vote Australia will reveal itself as an supporter of colonisation and genocide. When Israel continues to expand settlements and will not allow a Palestinian state to be formed, what then is the alternative to supporting the vote. Rudd is not even doing that and the truth is that Israel’s chief sponsor is rapidly declining in economic and political power, Rudd clearly knows that.

“…The Age reported that Foreign Minister Rudd had recommended abstention in a letter to Prime Minister Julia Gillard who is a firm supporter of Israel…”

Wasn’t it Kevin Rud who, during the election campaign schmused the Jewish community by promising them to mount an international legal challenge against the Iranian “Fuehrer” for his incitement to genocide against the Jewish people? Well, power has led him obviously astray when he now schmuses with the deadly ennemies of Israel so that he can sit next to them in the discredited UN.

The Age? Oh well, they come from the same stable as the Sydney Morning Herald, not excactly supporters of Israel with journalists like McGeough.

As to our Prime Minister, lets hope that she will not be bullied by the Greens whose agenda (at least the one of Lee Rhiannon) seems to contain a very clear “Kauft nicht bei Juden” dictate.
