The exhibition was opened by renowned Australian Photographer, Anne Zahalka.

The Montefiore community came out to witness the residents’ artistic accomplishments on display.  It was a joyous celebration filled with music and laughter.

June and Audrey were very proud of their achievement and grateful that so many people came to see their work.  The family of the late Dr Zelman Freeman were in attendance and were very moved to see their father’s creative work displayed to such acclaim.

“Montefiore has a long history of encouraging and supporting the artistic achievements of its residents, whether they are seasoned artists or have never picked up a brush,” said Creative Therapy Manager, Olatundji Akpo-Sani.  “This commitment to the arts is important not only because creativity has been shown to greatly improve an individual’s wellbeing as they age, but also because it provides residents with increased levels of choice and dignity regardless of the challenges that they may face as they grow older,” added Olatundji.

This event is another example of Montefiore’s commitment to its Philosophy of Living that makes choice, dignity and wellbeing a priority when it comes to providing services for the Jewish elderly population.
