The event was conducted by the Israeli Deputy Chief of Mission Teddy Poplinger.

Councillor Iona Pannett represented the City of Wellington on behalf of the city’s mayor.

Israeli Ambassador Yossi Livne spoke of the anguish of Rabin’s killing in 1995, and how the quest for peace in the region still continues.

Those present joined in Shir LaShalom (“Song for Peace”) which Rabin had been singing at the peace rally in Tel Aviv just before he was shot.
