The aim of the day was for students to learn more about the refugee experience, in order for them to volunteer with organisations which support these communities if they so desire. The day began with a screening of the powerful SBS documentary ‘Go Back to Where You Came From,’ and a presentation from Matti Borowski, who worked as a lawyer with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre before joining the informal education team at Scopus. The day concluded with a Q&A between Dean Levitan from Stand Up and Karim Elnadaif, a refugee from Sudan, who shared his story.

The Awareness Day was  part of the College’s Community Service Program.
